The Run to the Beat run will take place on Sunday 8th September 2013. There will be extensive road closures and bus diversions though vehicular access in and out of the area will be available at all times (read on for more details).
The Westcombe Society suggest that those who need to travel on Sunday 8th September plan in advance and allow extra time for their journey. More information is given below, for additional information or problems call the Run to the Beat hotline on 020 8233 5900. This line will be in operation up to and including the day of the run.
This year the run starts and finishes in Greenwich Park in the hope that this will lessen the burden on residents caused by Road Closures. However the Westcombe Park area will still be circled by the route which runs from Greenwich Park to Woolwich via Charlton Way, Vanbrugh Park, Banchory Road, Craigerne Road, Charlton Road, Hill Reach, Repository Road, Ha-Ha Road and John Wilson Street. The return is via Woolwich Church Street, Woolwich Road, Anchor and Hope Lane, Pear Tree Way, Bugsbys Road and West Park side to North Greenwich. From North Greenwich runners will return to Greenwich Park via West Parkside, Pear Tree Way, Woolwich Road and Trafalgar Road.
For residents of Westcombe Park this means that Charlton Way alongside the park will be closed from 5am until 3pm. Charlton Way (east of Maze Hill) and Vanbrugh Park will be closed from 8.45 until 11.20am. Woolwich Road will be closed from 9.30am until 2.10pm and Trafalgar Road will be closed from 9.30am until 2.30pm.
This means that between 9.30 and 11.20am the only way out of the area will be via Westcombe Park Road, Charlton Road, Eastcombe Avenue and the Woolwich Road onto the A102 Southbound, traffic wishing to go north will need to turn round at the Sun in Sands. Entrance to the Area will be via the A102 Northbound to Woolwich Road and then into the area via Combedale Road and Westcombe Hill
