Open Day at Maryon Park Community Garden, Charlton
There are 2,500 Community Gardens in London marking the start of the growing season Capital Growth organise the Big Dig Open Day. Maryon Park Community Garden is taking part and has a ‘Drop-in Open Day’ on Saturday 16th April 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
The Community Garden provides organic growing plots for local people, a Forest School for primary schools and volunteer opportunities for individuals and corporate groups as well as educational visits for special schools.
On Saturday 16th April visitors can learn more about the Community Garden, enjoy tours and talks about the plots, orchard, wild flower bank, Forest School and the historic park Maryon Park. There will be refreshments, children’s activities, a plant sale and a fund raising bric-a-brac stall. Visitors can join the waiting list for growing beds.
Maryon Park Community Garden is a not-for-profit voluntary community project situated in the former council plant nursery in Maryon Park. Now in its fourth year the Friends of the Park, Capital Growth, the Olympic Transform Fund, City Hall, Greenwich Parks Forum and the London Tree and Woodland Trust have all funded the garden.

The Location
Maryon Park Community Garden, The Old Nursery, Maryon Park, Charlton.
Follow the signs from the main park gate by the Park Lodge, 126, Maryon Road, Charlton, SE7 8DH. The Community Garden is located on the south side of the park, behind the park fence. From the Maryon Road entrance, walk past the Park Lodge and follow the path to the left and look out for the Big Dig bunting.

then 10 minutes walk or take 380 to St Thomas bus stop.

I have been booked by the greenwich times to come and take pictures at your event.. I see the event runs for 6 hours… But I am booked to cover only 2 hours..
In your opinion, what would be the best time to come along .. to capture interesting pics of people doing things

This is not our event, we have only been asked to help advertise it. Please contact the Community Garden organisers to check when would be best for you to attend. As we understand it, it is an event that goes on all day and visitors are welcome to attend at any time of their own choosing.
