The Royal Borough of Greenwich are currently consulting on changes to the controlled parking in Westcombe Park. This affects all of us who live in the area and we encourage all residents to respond this weekend if they have not already done so.
The consultation is online at (scroll down to find Westcombe Park) https://consultations.royalgreenwich.gov.uk
Email responses can be sent to Parking-Design@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
The Westcombe Society are very concerned about the design of the consultation which is confusing and in some places inaccurate and has not been sent to all residents in the area.
We are also concerned about the proposal to introduce a significant number of permit holder bays in the area which would mean that only those with resident permits, business permits or paid for visitor permits can park in those bays. We feel this is unnecessary and detrimental to residents, businesses and visitors in the whole area. We feel that the 2-hour free parking bays work well in discouraging commuter parking and thus freeing up parking for residents and genuine visitors to the area.
We feel that if these proposals go ahead they will affect everyone who needs to park a car in the area because of the knock on effect on streets that retain 2-hour free parking. We encourage all residents to respond whether or not the proposed changes are happening in your street.
Hello. Does anybody know when the free parking Westcombe park road changes to being permit only? I’ve seen new signs have been installed but are covered with black plastic. I’m a local resident who isn’t entitled to a permit and this was the only place I could park for free! Thanks
Apologies for not replying sooner. We don’t know what the plan is. The Council are rethinking traffic and parking controls as far as we know but haven’t yet told us the result of the 2021 consultation. It might be best to ask our local Councillors. Their contact details are on our contacts page.
