The Westcombe Society Craft Fair is back after a break of a year. We know some of you were disappointed that we missed last year.
This year’s event will be held at Invicta School in Invicta Road SE3 from 11am to 4pm on the 26th November.
The usual array of attractive craft stalls together a small number of charities will ensure an enjoyable shopping experience. Entertainment for the children, Face Painting, Punch and Judy together with a visit from Father Christmas all make for a very enjoyable time.
We are fortunate to have Asad Ahmad of BBC London News to officially open the event shortly after our opening time of 11am.

We were looking forward to this but found it very disappointing compared with previous years. About half the size and no singing (at least while we were there).
Hello Steve
I am sorry that you were disappointed with the Fair.
We have been unable to use our usual premises for the last couple of years due to alterations at the High School. We gave ourselves a year off last year as there is a lot of work involved in holding the event. We decided to try alternative premises this year which proved very difficult to find. We eventually settled on Invicta School which was local, access was even and there was a reasonable amount of parking. We concentrated on trying to fill it with as many craft stalls as we could to encourage their involvement next year when we should be back at Blackheath High. This meant that there were fewer Westcombe Society stalls (tombolas etc) no large tree and no singers. We also had no facilities for catering.
Personally I think we did very well within the constraints we had to contend with.
We are all hopeful of a return to Blackheath High next year, where I hope you will visit us.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with events and if you feel able to consider this do let me know. An awful lot of work goes into the Craft Fair and any assistance would be gratefully received.
I hope this explains why this year’s event was very different to those held previously.
Best wishes

Personally, My family and I really enjoyed it and never try and compare fairs to previous events. My children attend Invicta and it was great to see it being used as a venue for the first time… With no issues I presume? Especially at such short notice. What I would say was that no one I spoke with, knew the fair was on. Great stalls, great people and great Santa!!

Thank you for your comments.
It is difficult to compare this year’s fair to previous ones as the setting, size and location were very different.
We tried to replicate as much as we could from previous events but were quite constrained on space. Whilst we were made very welcome at Invicta School it was a site that was unfamiliar to us but I think we made use of the space available in the best possible way.
In our publicity we were careful to ensure that the new venue was highlighted on all the posters, in the Westcombe News and on our web site. There was an ad in Greenwich Visitor and the event was tweeted around the area and also appeared in Facebook. Each child at Invicta had a leaflet in their school bag too.
Very happy to hear any suggestions as to how we can do better next year!
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the stalls, Santa and of course our helpers.
Without them there would be no event!
Best wishes
