The Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund uses money from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) which is a scheme that allows councils to raise money from developments to use on improving infrastructure. A portion of this, called Neighbourhood CIL, is allocated to local projects.
There was£137,101 neighbourhood funding available in Area 2 which covers Blackheath Westcombe, Greenwich and Peninsula Wards. Eleven proposals were received from this area, of which six have been shortlisted for the public vote.
Shortlisted projects are:
- Equipment upgrade at Blackheath Westcombe Autism support project, Montessori Education for Autism (£6,123)
- Reach Out ‘Digital Inclusion’ Project at Mycenae House, Vanbrugh Community Association (£20,330)
- Getting Close to Nature at Greenwich, The Land Restoration Trust (£16,991)
- New outdoor play equipment and bench refurbishment at The Bridge, The Bridge East Greenwich CIC Limited (£11,970)
- Christchurch School Community Garden, Koinonia Federation – Christchurch School (£22,042)
- St Alfege Church access ramp, St Alfege Church Steering Group (£30,000)
Residents can vote for their favourite proposal from Monday 18th February online at http://www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/growthfund, or in one of the main libraries by paper vote.(Greenwich, Woolwich, Eltham, Plumstead, Thamesmere and hopefully Blackheath shortly) Residents are encouraged to take part in the public vote and show their support for their preferred proposal. (We are told voting is open for two weeks)
