The Westcombe Society have received notice of resurfacing works in Westcombe Park Road.   Residents of the affected streets should have received a letter.  The wording is as follows:

RE: Planned resurfacing works to the carriageway in Westcombe Park Road from Westcombe Hill to Coleraine Road and part of Beaconsfield Road.

I write to inform you that the Royal Borough of Greenwich wish to plane off and resurface the carriageway of Westcombe Park Road from Westcombe Hill to Coleraine Road and also Beaconsfield Road from Westcombe Park Road to house number 64. Work is scheduled to start on the 24th January 2015.  The work will take place as part of the HILL (Highways Improvement and Local Labour Initiative) programme. The Council’s Contractor for the proposed works will be J B Riney Limited who may be contacted on 020 8983 0077.

To reduce the effect on traffic in the local area it will be necessary to carry out the resurfacing works between the hours of 09:00 -16:30 using 2 way traffic lights.

Road closures will need to be in place whilst works are carried out at the side road junctions and will affect Coleraine Road, Vanbrugh Park Road West, Vanbrugh Park Road, Hardy Road, Beaconsfield Road, Glenluce Road and Mycenae Road. The work between Glenluce Road and Westcombe Hill including the junction will be carried out with a road closure on Westcombe Park Road and 2 way traffic lights operating on Westcombe Hill. Access will be provided via clearly signed diversion routes. The works are programmed to last 7 days but can be subject to delays caused by adverse weather conditions. The Royal Borough of Greenwich would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and assure you that every effort will be made to keep any disturbance to a minimum.

If you normally park your vehicle(s) on the carriageway in the area of the work I would ask if you could park in an alternative location / in an adjacent street. Please note it will be necessary to suspend any Controlled Parking Zone bays for the duration of works. Additionally, please note that any vehicle obstructing either the work or suspended bays will be removed and a recovery charge may apply.

If you experience any problems, or if you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on the above telephone number, or write to me at the above address.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Marsh, HILL Project Manager
