We have heard reports of the following recently:

  • a girl with a broad Irish accent is visiting homes within Westcombe Park ostensibly collecting sponsorship for running the Marathon and asking for £26 for completing it. She maintains that folk have agreed to sponsor her but has no evidence. She says the charity is the Make a Wish foundation.  We have also had another description of a similar scam by a woman, 40s, very skinny, white, bad teeth, in pink tracksuit.  Unfortunately we have been told that more than one resident has been caught out by one of these scams
  • Young couple. 27-32 yrs old. Female brown hair tied back about 5 foot 8. Male, blue eyes, short brown hair about 5 foot 9. Asked for help. They have been locked out etc.  Approached someone at the corner of Trafalgar Road/Park Row at 10 30 pm in early November

Please be on the alert for these scams and report any suspicious behaviour to the police on 101.
